Some questions that couples have before they hire a photographer.
Q: If I hire you, are you the photographer that will shoot my wedding? Can I get that in writing?
Yes and yes. Another photographer may be present but I will be there as well and be the one taking the bulk of the photos.
Q: Is the work that I am seeing all yours and only yours or does it include the work of other photographers?
The work is all mine, unless I specifically indicate other wise. The only samples that I have that are not mine are those that are used to market a specific photo finish like canvas or metallic paper. All work on this web site is mine.
Q: Do you do traditional wedding photography, photojournalism, or both? The samples shown here and in my sample album are what I traditionally offer. Think of it as a blend of traditional and photojournalism. My sample albums will give you a better idea of what this means. Q: I really like the style of a different photographer and like your prices. Can you shoot my wedding using this other photographer's style? The photos from your wedding will be passed down for generations and they should reflect your personal style. It would be better to pay for those photographers' services than to try to get someone to copy someone else's style. This just does not work well and you will not be happy with the results.
Q: Do you use both color and B&W film when photographing a wedding and is there an extra charge? Most packages include color and B&W for no additional cost. See the price list for details on which packages include both formats. If you desire infrared then there is an extra charge for that to cover the added expenses in using that type of film. If you do not want B&W then simply let me know and I'll shoot your entire wedding in color. Q: I have heard that infrared film is not suited for portraits and wedding photography. If this were true then so many photographers would not be offering this as part of their services. My guess is that any photographer that says this is not offering infrared. The truth is that this is your special day and if you like the unique look that infrared photography offers then there is no reason you should not have it. Photography is art and art is a matter of personal taste. Q: I've booked a different photographer that does not offer infrared but would like to have some photographs in this style. Can you help me? I can come and shoot some infrared shots for you. However, your main photographer will have to agree to this as well. Also, be aware that it most likely will add to the time needed for photography.
Q: How much time is included in your packages and is there an extra fee for extra coverage? Each package has a specific number of hours and number of proofs. If more time or film is needed there will be an additional charge. Q: Do your packages include one or two photographers and is there an extra fee for a second photographer? Prices given are for one photographer. A second photographer may or may not be present. If you want to guarantee a second photographer one can be locked in for an additional charge.
Q: Do you work with an assistant?
Most of the time, but this does not affect the price of the package you choose. Q: How many cameras do you have and what kind?
I use professional quality film based Nikons - two of them. Plus I have a selection of professional quality lenses and multiple flashes. Q. What type of film do you use. I use professional grade Fuji films designed for weddings and portraits. All film is developed and printed by a professional lab, not your local 1 hour photo finishing service. This takes longer and costs more but gives better more consistent results with our the risk of damage to the film.
Q: How far will you travel to a wedding before charging a travel fee? About 2 hours, but let me know where the ceremony is and I'll give an exact answer. Q: Do you charge a fee if the wedding and reception are in more than one location? What if we want to go to a third location for pictures? Is there a charge for this? There is no charge for multiple locations within a reasonable travel distance of each other. Q: If your packages are not what I am looking for, would you be willing to try to customize a package for me that is within my budget?
Yes, by all means. Just ask and we can work out the details. Q: Do you offer wedding albums or any coffee table style books?
I have a variety of albums you can purchase. I've found that the custom coffee table books are expensive and do not offer them.
